Dear Jarrod,

Sorry about the first message. I just found out that if you hit the enter button, it sends the message, and I was just beginning.

Here is what I found on James Goss, without listing the sources--which I can send if you are interested.

James Goss died in the vicinity of Peola, (Asotin County) WA,, in April 1891.

I did not find that there was a headstone for him in the Peola Cemetery.

There were two marriage license applications for a Huldah Wilkins. One said she was the daughter of Rufus R. Wilkins and Sarah Goss, and she was born in 1871 in Arkansas, and married Fred J. Sherrill, dated Feb. 15, 1896
The other application said she was Hildy Caroline Wilkins, age 28, b. Ark., daughter of William R. and Sarah (Gos) Wilkins.

I suspect that there is a relationship between these Wilkins and the family of Samuel Hull, who married Stella Mae Wilkins. His query is posted on the Garfield County GenWeb, where your query is posted.

Barbara:

Thank you for your hard work! I really appreciate it. I was wondering what source(s) you used to find the death period of James Goss? Incidentally, I have found his name is James Wilford Goss. Did you see anything for his wife, Charlotte/Mary Wilkins?

Jarrod,

The death of James Goss was noticed in the "Washington Independent", a weekly newspaper in Pomeroy, which published from 1880 to 1896. It was just a one-liner, common for that paper in that time, which said,"Mr. James Goss died up in the vicinity of Peola last week."

Dear Jarrod,

When I answered the Garfield County Query of Larry Hull, e-mail lhull@ups.edu---I found he had a Wilkins family. I did not find any info on Charlotte Wilkins, but he may have something on her.

There was a large family of Wilkins, who lived near the Blue Mountains. There are none here by that name now, but there are relatives.

Our family line notes Martha and Mary WILKINS, twins, born to Wm Rufus WILKINS. Could there be any connection to the Charlotte/Mary you are looking for?

My 5th great grandfather is Jacob Goss born on 4-16-1772 and was married to Salome Doomy. There son Henry Goss (my 4th great grandfather) was born Feb 25, 1798. I not sure how many kids Jacob and Salome have but I do have where they were born and died. If you need more info. let me know and I will be happy to help you.
