John SOROCHINSKI (died in Vernon BC) was married to Annie LASHUK. I am trying to learn more about Annie in hopes of finding out if LASHUK is her maiden name or if that was from a possible first husband. If from a first husband what was her name?

Here is what I know about the couple:

John SOROCHINSKI, born 14 Dec 1886 in Poland, died 06 Aug 1983 in Vernon, BC. His parents on the death registration is listed as Nicholas SOROCHINSKI, mother was listed as not known. John's wife was listed as "Annie LASHUK". John was cremated - no burial place listed on the death registration.

Annie is listed in the Vernon city directory up until and including 1992, therefore she will not appear in the BC Archives Death Index. After that I assume she either passed away or moved into a nursing home to not appear in the City Directory. Since John was 96 years old when he passed away in 1983 and Annie was known to be alive in 1991-2 I believe she was quite a few years younger than John so could have been born in the very early 1900's.

Does any of this sound familiar? Is LASHUK Annie's maiden name was it from a first marriage?

Who was the Informant? Annie? or ?
Take a look at the name of the Funeral Home in Charge of Arrangements.
They may have taken information for the Obituary.
They may also have other information -perhaps family members who could help with your quest.

Contact the Funeral Home - Just in Case they may have handled a Funeral for Annie LASHUK.

Contact The Crematiorium, They will know if they handled a Cremation for Annie Lashuk SOROCHINSKI.

Hi, The Vernon Museum and Archives has research staff who will do a look up and if they can find the information in 20 minutes they do not charge. Since you have an exact date of death for John perhaps an obit will give the names of children who may still be in the area.

Since you have information from a directory on Annie perhaps you could write to the address and see if neighbors have lived there long enough to know what happened to Annie perhaps to even the year of her death. Since her husband was cremated she is probably not buried but the Vernon Family History Society www.vdfhs.com has pretty up to date cemetery lists and Vernon City hall has indexed alphabetically all the names of people buried in Vernon Cemetery even cremains if buried in someone elses plot. If you can find the date of Annies death this would help when contacting funeral homes. Vernon Funeral Home, Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Bethal Funeral Home. Vernon Crematorium. John and Annie were my grandparents. They are both deceased. Grandma passed away in Enderby a number of years ago. She was 96. You can contact me via my email if you would like some more information.

John and Annie was my uncle and aunt. My dad, Zygmunt changed our surname by dropping out the fourth letter"o" for some reason I never did find out. Annie had a son by her first marriage who was called Mike. Mike was quite a few years older than me so may have passed away by now. Uncle John had two sons, Joe and Nick, two daughter Jean and Mary. Jean passed away many years ago and I believe Mary is still living in Vernon. Joe isliving in Vernon also. Nick has since passed away.
