Tooo Long......
I'm getting very annoyed with the ancestry travesty 1911 census too - If they have no intention of indexing it, they could at least attempt to make the advanced search find the right COUNTY. I have just spent all evening trying to locate a record that I know is there, I have the reg district (Medway), sub reg districts (Gillingham), piece number(489), house number (41), even the **** vessel number (23) for Arthur Weller, 41 Rainham Road, Gillingham, Kent - if i put it in the search form it returns every county BUT Kent; that is several thousand returns beginning with Essex.
At least let me sort the results by county!

When I finally got there, I might have known that there would be no way of attaching it to the persons tree record.

pah!

Despite what they say I STILL cannot find one I have been searching for since the blessed thing first became available - tedious, stressful and utterly demoralizing *bangheadondesk*.

Joseph Riley b 1846 Staffordshire, living 1901 Cumberland with wife Maria.

frustrating isnt it.
I just tried your person on the 1911 site, and i could find a Maria Riley - which filled in the blanks a bit (i was hoping that the other site would give a folio number, but no, only with a subscription)

anyway the Maria Riley is listed on that site as:
HOUSEHOLD
RILEY
MARIA
F
1846
65
Wolverhampton
Staffordshire

so i did a search here for wolverhampton and got a Maria Riley - wife of Joseph Rowley, and 18 yo. daughter maria Rowley.

looks like a case of transcraption error to me.

the details are here:
Name: Maria Riley

Awe, how sweet of you to try and help. Thank you :o)

Sadlythe entry you found is not the one for my clan, Maria was born in Leicestershire and she did not have a daughter Maria.

I think they're going to be the ones that got away, lol.

GREAT! Now the 1911 census requires a version of flash player that my computer doesn't support - it was ok a few days ago but now it just refers me to the flashplayer website - luckily its only for the 1911 census, or the whole site would be useless. Please ancestry don't upgrade the other databases - or if you do leave the legacy version in tact.

That new look is horrific. Is there a way to switch it off and just see the image again?
