I recently found an article in the East Liverpool Review dtd 8/20/1951 that held the name of a man I believe to be my Grandfather, Arthur William McElroy, Jr.

EAST LIVERPOOL REVIEW, EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO - dtd 8/20/1951 - pg 8 - Social Affairs
First and second degrees were conferred on 10 members at the meeting of the Liverpool Township Grange in the Grange Hall on Shadyside Avenue. Friday night. W. H. Daugherty, worthy master, conducted the rites for Mrs. Charles Prince, Mr. and Mrs Thomas McElroy, Frederick McElroy, Arthur William McElroy, Jr., John Trainer, Mrs. Hazel Marie Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis and Mrs. Lillian Foster.
Square dancing followed with Charles Owen as caller and Mrs. Lillian McLaughlin accompanist.
Refreshments were served 50 by Mrs. Marcella Daugherty and committee.
The next meeting is Sept 1.

First, was wondering if anyone had a connection to Mr. McElroy...would love to try to make a family connection.
Second, what is "Liverpool Township Grange"?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Mike; I am unfamiliar with the name, however; East Liverpool is made up of townships,ie; Liverpool Township, St. Clair Township,Lacroft Township,Glenmore Township, some of these changed and were incorporated into the city of Est Liverpool, Ohio. Hope this helps!

Hi Cindy-
Thanks for that tidbit of info...even after 6 years, I haven't made any headway in connecting this Arthur McElroy to being my Grandfather...I'll keep pushing on.
Take care.

For those that do not know the Grange is a Farm Faternal Order that is over 100 years old, it was founded right after the Civil War, the term Grange comes from England a Grange was the term for a farm in Old England.
I am a 7th degree member of the Grange and there are books out on the history of the Grange and also a Website for the National Grange and many local Grange's also have websites.
Ohio used to be the largest Grange State in the U.S.
