I am looking for the marriage and death records of John and Magdalena Ruff - also spelled Roof. They are listed with their daughters Margaret and Magdalena on the 1860 census as living in Cochecton. On the 1870 census, John and his wife are living in Delaware, Sullivan, NY. If anyone can guide me to how to get their marriage and death records, I would be so grateful.

Please add and additional spelling of Rouff found in the 1870 cs. They were also Lutheran

Look in Jeffersonville NY. Many of the German Swiss were Presbyterian. My family includes Louisa ("Lucia") Rouff (1829 - 1890), who married farmer Casper Kohler (about 1819 - 1883). They had several children.

I know they came from Bern, Switzerland, but can only guess. I know the some of the families came from Meringen, Bern, Switzerland. The Brog's came from there. Elizabeth Brog, married my Gr-gr uncle. On a long shot request.Since one family often told Other relative families about USA .I wondered if you have in your Tree Meinard Lienhardt from Switzerland.Born in 1830 married Margaret Uknown from Ireland. They had 8 children born in Monticello NY.Meinard is Buried in St. Peters Cem. in Monticello.
