Hi;
My Grandparents were married in Fossil in 1901..Roswell Fred Huntley and Elizabeth Jordan...If any one has any information on the Jordan family in the area at that time i would really like to hear it.
According to the 1901 marriage records, they got married at J.F.Jordans house. Witnesses were Robert John Palmer and Charles Wright. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. George Huntley

Hi George:

The J.F. Jordan probably refers to James F. Jordan who was Elizabeths father. According to the census, James was born in June 1858 in California. He owned his farm which was free of mortgage. He was married to Mary born April 1862 in Wisconsin.
Also in the household
Lizzie born Sept 1881 age 18 in Oregon. She is listed as a housekeeper.
Ady -Son-born about 1889 in Oregon, he is listed as attending school. On the 1910 census Ady is listed as James R Jordan-still living with his parents James and Mary E. who are listed in the Clarno Precinct. The parents are listed as being married 30 years. She has four children born-3 living.
Fred Huntleys father is listed as Harrison-and he is a widower on the 1900 Census living in Wheeler County. In 1910 Harrison is living in Olalla, Douglas County, Oregon.

I hope this helps with your search Good Luck!
Laura

Hi George:

Yes, there are additional familes.

In Mitchell (which is south of Fossil) there is the family of Peter Jordan:

Peter Jordan Head of Household/male/white/born June 1867/age 32/married/married for 6 years/born TN/
Evaline Jordan Wife/female/white/born Sept. 1875/age 25/married/married 6 years/3 children born-2 living/born Oregon
Morgan Jordan Son/male/white/born Aug 1894/age 5/born Oregon

In Lonerock (about 10 miles out of Condon in Gilliam County) there was a Thomas Jordan born Sept 1874 age 25 born Missouri/father born Indiana/mother born Missouri. He is listed as a sheep herder.

Was there anyone in particular that you were looking for?
