Hello, I have some Jilek family members from Bohemia who emmigrated to the US... we can compare our trees :) or send me a message with your email...

My grandfather, August Jilk, emigrated to Chicago 1854 to joinn his brother, Joe Jilk. After several years he moved to Minnesota. I believe many/most Jilks in USA are related....it's a strange name. Family tradition says the CZ spelling was "JILEK". They lived in Dolne Dubroc in Northern CZ near Polish border. We no longer have contact with any CZ family. Hope this helps. Related??? larry Jilk

I don't see any family connection yet... but the thing is that JILEK is very very common name in the Czech Republic and I haven't followed the Jilek's part of the family very closely so far. But the location is close to the one my family lived... so ther could be something :) If you send me more info about your grandfather I can check his birth record next time I go to the archive... but it will be at the end of June the earlist...
