Searching relatives and roots, Horodenka area

Have some doc's back to late 1800's; looking for more family (although name is common). Will share info.
Please reply, even if unsure. Family left Ukraine from Potocysce, UA in 1928.

I have a phone directory for Potochyshche (Potocysce). When I return home in January, from my Christmas vacation, I will look up your family name, and get back to you.

I would be forever in your debt, if you had such a directory. However, I know that there are presently 5 DIFFERENT Matejko families presently living there (and NONE of them are related!!), and it will be difficult to establish written communications with only a telephone book (I don't speak or read Ulrainian).

Is it possible that you can scan (or photocopy) the pages for Potocysce? I expect that it would only be 2 or 3 pages (I was told by a former resident that there are (now) only about 500 people that live there.

I just returned home from my vacation.
Potochyshche (in Ukrainian), has a population of 1490, and 633 homes. There are 3 Mateiko (in Ukrainian) listed in the phone directory. They may be cousins, as they all have different fathers' initial. The fathers' initial of the first listed is F., the second, A.., and the third D. It is possible that there may be 5 Mateiko families that live there. Not everyone can afford a phone, or have a reason to own one. My family live in a village next door to Potochyshche. Since I found them in 1996, I visit them almost every year. One of my cousins granddaughter married a boy from Potochyshche. His mother is a school teacher. If you send me more information on your family, I can phone and ask her to do a family search for you. One of them, his fathers' initial is I. and the other is D. for Dmytro. Horodenka is a small city, with a population of around 10,000

Hi Peter: as part of my research on my Gulenchyn family, I have identified a large number of emigrants from Potoczyska to Canada, largely Fort William, Sudbury, Windsor/ Detroit, Oshawa. My ancestors were among the first to leave in 1899/90. I'm interested to add you to my information sharing group.
