I understand the Gratz Historical Society has been working for some time on a book of Lykens history. Does anyone know if the book is finished and available?

Thanks,

Joe

I learned from several informed sources that the book will not be finished for about a year. I'm looking forward to reading it - the Gratz book was very well done.

Hi Joe
Do you have a e-mail address or phone number for this Gratz historical society? I am researching the Commo family in Lykens.
Thanks, Don

Hi Cynthia
Thank you so much for answering. My Claude Commo immigrated from France. He was born 1842. He married a Rosina and shows up in the 1870 census in Lancaster Co. By 1880, he is in Dauphin Co with second wife Sophia. Her maiden name was Zigner. I have her death in Oct 16, 1915 and his July 25, 1889. I have her obit, trying to get his. Do you have any information.

Hi Again Cindi
Claude and Sophia Commo are buried at the German Catholic Cemetery at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery. I am trying to find out if there is an intestate, will, orphan ct records, etc. I call the court house, by nobody will look it up. If you have that article about the mine death, could you please e-mail it or post it for me. I am a 30 yr member of the chester county historical society, but its a long ride to research in Dauphin Co.
Thanks, Don Leamy
