Hi

I have a copy of a letter from my Great Great Uncle Robert Shearsmith dated Feb 25th 1844 when he was living in Richfield with his wife Ann and three children James, Elizabeth Ann, and Julieann.

I think I have found Robert in the 1840 US Federal census and possibly Ann in the 1860 census living in Union County, NJ.

I was wondering if anyone has any information that might help me, or links that they've traced to Robert.

I found some information about Robert Shearsmith in 1840 travelling on the ship Sovereign with wife Ann (ages 25 and 23? - print not clear) He was a wheelwright. Also on New York 1830 census shown as born 1808 and living in Cherry Valley Otsego, NY, with Ann. Also on 1840 census living in Richfield Otsego. I found these on Ancestry.

Thanks for the information Chris. I know there is a record for their arrival in New York in 1827 on Ancestry as well.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone else who might have any information about what happened to his children James (b. 28 May 1835), Elizabeth (b. 7 January 1838) and Julieann (b. 5 March 1840) who were all born in Richfield. Or what happened to Robert and Ann after 1840.
