Am wondering if anybody has information on a Blannerhasset family that lived in Norfolk, England during the 1400 and 1500's.

Text from the inreoductory memoir of the Blennerhassett Pedigree.

"A branch of the family had settled in Norfolk as early as the 1400 century bearing the same arms as their Cumberland kinsmen with the addition of an annulet"

There is a reference to Bloomfields history of Norfold.

"Joan de Lowdham heiress to the manor at Frense married Ralph Blennerhassett, her first husband had died, I think they had a son John.

There are a number of brasses and inscriptions at St. Andrews, Frense, seems to be where they are buried.

Maybe you are the long lost heir to the manor at Frense.

Brendan

I don’t think I know of this lady but am interested.
Please may I know here you found her date of death (22 Feb 1556)and to which Blennerhassett is she married?

The only TyndallBlennerhassett marriage that I am aware of about this time is:

Jane (a.k.a. Joan) Blennerhassett, nee Tyndall (Tindall, Tyndale…) born est.c1446
daughter of Sir Thomas Tyndall, knight, of Deene in Co.Northamptonshire
and also of Redenhall & Hockwold in Co.Norfolk

she died 6-Oct-1521 (date from inscription on her monumental brass, some sources have d.6-Oct-1520 or 17-Jun-1521, from misreading this inscription)

buried inside the church of St.Andrew at Frenze, near Diss, Co.Norfolk where she has a monumental brass, with effigy of her wearing a gown wearing a “kennel” headdress, “bidding her beads”. There were three brass shields bearing coats of arms (onlt two survive):
1. Blennerhassett quartering Lowdham
2. Blennerhassett impaling Tyndall, quartering Fecklin
3. Tyndall, quartering Orton and Scales

She married (sometime before 1473) to John Blennerhassett born c1423/4 (some sources make her first the widow of Thomas Hobson, but I believe that to be incorrect)

her husband John Blennerhassett (of Southill, Co.Bedfordshire and, following the death of his father, of Frenze Co.Norfolk)died 27-Nov-1510(date from inscription on his monumental brass, some sources have d.7-Nov-1510 or 8-Nov-1510 or 28-Nov-1510, from misreading this inscription)

I have looked at rootsweb.com and see what the problem is. John Blennerhassett and Joan/Jane Tyndall (b.c1446 d.6-Oct-1521) had a daughter Ellen/Eleanor Blennerhassett.

It is their daughter Ellen/Eleanor who is given in rootsweb.com as b.c1480, d.BEFORE 22-Feb-1556/7 (but not ON that date). I don't have any exact date of birth for Ellen but c1480 is a reasonable estimate as her parents married shortly before 26-Mar-1473, and the date of death they give is the same as I presently have it.

Regarding the parentage of Joan/Jane Tyndall, the "Visitation of Norfolk" written in the year 1561 states:
"Jhon Blenhayset maryed to his second Wyfe Jane Daughter of Sr Thos: Tyndale in the County of Norfolke knight, & by her had yssue Jhon Blenhaysey wch Dyed sanz yssue, & also by her Mary, Jane, Anne, & Ellyn."
and
"Ellyn 4th Daughter of Jhon maryed to Myles Hubberd (alias Hobart) of Plumstead second sonne to Sr James Hubberd of Norff knight."

Hope this helps.

Bill
