Samuel R. Anderson was called into service in Chambers
County, Alabama, June to September of 1836, as part of the
"second Creek war". Family legend claims that he later
was involved in leading some Indians to the west, as a
preacher whom they trusted. (He was a Methodist licensed
exhorter.) He later settled in Chattooga County, Ga. and was related to the Puryear family by marriage. I am seeking anyone with any information on him.

I am looking for a samuel Anderson not sure where he was from ms or alabama, would have been born abt 1840-1850 the had a som william S anderson b 1870 in clarke ms he married Carrie Morris in 1889 in clarke ms
marriage records show his father as Samuel Anderson
he would be my gg grandfather , could there be a connection

Do you have any info on his wife and children? I am looking for a father for Samuel Anderson, b. 1838, GA. His mother's name was Sarah. Sarah was HOH in Cherokee County, GA, in 1850. In 1860, Samuel's younger brothers were living in Pickens county, GA, but I can not find Samuel or his mother Sarah anywhere. Samuel married and had a daughter, Dorinda, b, 1962, who was living in Blount County, AL, in 1870.

Any assistance with this line would be much appreciated!

I just read your query entered a number of years ago. I must report that the Samuel R. Anderson who I am concerned with was b in VA. He married Mary Pope Puryear in Clark County/Athens, Ga. His wife had several children, but none were named Dorinda.
