I'm looking for information about George Ives, who married Marion___, a descendant of ___ Warren, the founder of Warren County. The family lived in Wilkes Barre, Penn., where they had a piano business. Then they moved to North Creek, Warren Co., N.Y., where George and his brother built a dam at North Creek. Reportedly they built the first logging chute down Gore Mountain. The brother was killed in sawmill accident.

George and Marion had four daughters, Alice, Martha Louise, Helen and Marion, who married Lewis Little. The sisters were teachers and school administrators in North Creek and in Hartford, Washington, NY.

George and Marion are buried in North Creek. He died after 1918.

Daughter Martha Louise married first ___ Chapin of Hartford, Washington, N.Y.

She married second Clarence Wright of Hartford, who had a brother Frank Wright.

Martha Louise died perhaps in the 1970s and is buried in Morningside Cem., Hartford, Washington, NY.

Is there a cemetery index for North Creek that shows George Ives and gives his dates?

I keep a database of all descendants of William Ives and Hannah Dickerman of the New Haven Colony. Does said George -- and his unnamed brother, too -- connect with that family?

George Henry Ives lived in North Creek, NY and was in the lumber business. His wife was Alice Smith (not Marion) and the grave of Marion may be his daughter. He had previously lived in the Scranton, PA area where he was in the music business.

George Henry was born June 29,1855 in Caanan, Litchfield, CT. Married Alice Smith June 15, 1888. I don't have his date of death but i presume he died in Warren, NY.

He was the son of Edwin (Mineas, Levi...Willliam) and Cornelia Ann Warren Ives. The brother who died in a mill accident at the age of 8, in 1858 in CT, was Charles Ives. The family migrated to El Paso, Woodford, Illinois for several years and then went to Scranton, PA. He was my great grandfather's brother.

I realize this is an old post so hope you receive this message. Sue
