Dear list,

I am looking for more information on Joseph MORBECK, on his wife Magdalena nee TENBREUL, and any of their children, Hermann, b 1880, Stearns Cty., MN, Maria/ Mary, b 1882, and Joseph Benjamin ("Bennie"), b 1884, d 1957 in Pullman, Whitman Cty. Joseph Morbeck Sr. d 1924 same place, and Magdalena d 1913 same place.

She was previously married to Hermann SCHWIEP. Some of her children may have lived in Washington/ Idaho. I am looking for Gertrude b 1867, Josephine / Josie b 1870, Mathias b 1872, and Henry b 1874. They all married, likely, and some resided in Wilkin Cty., MN or Wahpeton, North Dakota until 1920, but then there is no trace of them that I can find. If you know of any of these, please let me know.

Thanks for any help.

Dear list,

I will repeat my info from 2001 in the hopes some new people will see it. As well, my e-mail address has changed to the above, and maybe someone tried to reply to the outdated one.

She was previously married to Hermann SCHWIEP. Some of her children may have lived in Washington/ Idaho. I am looking for Gertrude SCHWIEP b 1867, Josephine / Josie b 1870, Mathias b 1872, and Henry b 1874. They all married, likely, and some resided in Wilkin Cty., MN, at least to 1905, (Henry's family resided in or near Wahpeton, North Dakota until 1940), but then there is no trace of them that I can find. If you know of any of these, please let me know.

Thanks for any help.

An update on the Morbeck and Schwieps-- the ones who came to Uniontown are the Morbeck brothers, Herman and Ben (they ran a saloon at least 1908-11). Ben stayed around Uniontown and is buried there with his wife & parents. But what happened to Herman, his wife Bernardina nee Verkennis, and 3 children at least, including a Leonard Morbeck b 1908? Marie, Herman and Ben's sister, married and remained in Bottineau Co., ND. I am still wondering what happened to Mathias SCHWIEP / Sweep b 1872 and family (wife Bertha) and children. Mathias would be a half-brother to the Morbecks. I also still wonder about Sophie SWEEP, b 1870 or so. Did she stay in NDak. or Minn. or move to Washington? I am especially interested in any relatives or anyone who has information on Herman Morbeck or Ben and family. (I have seen the Uniontown history). Thank you for further comments.

An update on the above family-- Herman Morbeck emigrated in 1910 to Alberta, Canada, and eventually settled in the Peace River country and died at Whitelaw, AB.
Mathias SWEEP, b 1872, whom I mention, also moved to Alberta but in the Hanna, Alberta, area. His large family is scattered over Canada as far east as Ontario.
Sophie SWEEP married Joseph BAUMER in Breckenridge, Wilkin Co., MN, and died at Wahpeton, Richland Co., N.DAK, 1924. They had 10 children.
So I guess the main family around Whitman County in which I am interested would be the descendants of Ben Morbeck, b 1884, Stearns Co., MN. Any help would be appreciated.

Joseph died 24-Jul-1957, Moscow, ID.
Children:
i Walter J. MORBECK, b. 27 Nov 1920, Uniontown (Whitman) WA. He married Bergit TAULE, 12 Oct 1946, in Great Falls, MT, b. 14 Apr 1920, Great Falls, MT.
ii Mary Ann (Sr. Mary Angela) MORBECK, b. 22 Apr 1922, Uniontown (Whitman) WA.
iii Rose M. (Rosemary) MORBECK, b. 12 May 1924, Uniontown (Whitman) WA.
iv Howard "George" MORBECK, b. 19 Jan 1926, Uniontown (Whitman) WA. (a Catholic priest)
v Unnamed MORBECK, b. 18 Dec 1927, Uniontown (Whitman) WA, d. 18 Dec 1927, Uniontown (Whitman) WA.
vi John Paul MORBECK, b. 20 Dec 1929, Uniontown (Whitman) WA. He married Eileen HILL, 14 Apr 1961, b. 8 Oct 1925, d. 31 Jul 1993.
vii Edna Mae MORBECK, b. 3 May 1931, Uniontown (Whitman) WA. She married Carroll Anthony SCHULTHEIS, 24 Jul 1953, in Whitman Co., WA ?, b. 31 May 1932, Colton, Whitman Co., WA ?.
viii Lawrence Albert MORBECK, b. 5 Jun 1933, Uniontown (Whitman) WA. He married Lilly Louise BARTLETT, bef 1963, b. 12 Jun 1940, Potlach, ID.

Thanks for any responses and further information.

This morning I realized I had some more Morbeck family notes from Betty Norrie (who got the information from the Schultheis family). The latest date for children is 2002, and so I would like any information around 2000 and later. There may have been some deaths in the meantime also. Thanks for any help. Ken

I grew up in Unionwon,Wa. I knew Carroll and Edna Mae Schulties. They do live in Colton, Wa and raised their kids there. Carroll farmed there. They had three children I knew their son Greg. Who wons a successful furniture shop on mainstreet Colton.
My Great-Great Grandparents were Mary and Paul Fuchs.
My father is Albert Ricard and could probably tell you more about the Morbecks. He is 80. Was the postmaster and also keeper of the cemetaries there for years and years.

Thanks for responding-- you are the first. It's good to know about the Schultheis family. On this thread in 2009 (I think) I listed the various Morbecks from Whitman County descended from Ben Morbeck and Magdalena Fuchs (a sister to your g-grandparents apparently). Do you know (or does your father know) if any of them have died, and where any of the living are currently residing? I only know of one who died, and that one died as an infant (1927). Thanks for any further info on this large family. I would like to find someone locally (a Morbeck relative? anyone such as your father?) who might be able to keep in touch with further news in the family.
Thanks again for responding.
