I an looking for any information on Sophia Ellen McNew. She was my ggggrandmother. The story goes that she married Andrew Jackson Reed in about 1848. They moved to Texas from Tenn sometime after 1850. They had several children. Andrew left her for a younger woman whom he married in 1885. Sophia moved to Van Zandt Co. after Andrew left her. Sophia was suppose to be a full- blood Cherokee Indian. She died in the 1890s and is buried somewhere in Van Zandt Co. I find her name here and there but no information that can lead anywhere. In your post you had the Davlin name listed. I am decended from John,and Malissa Victoria Busby Davlin. They lived and farmed around Grand Saline, Van Zandt Co. Texas. John, and Milissa are my G-grandparents, John,and Cora Belle Davlin King my grandparents, Fred,and Annie Jane Lovejoy King my parents. Now after all that, I would love to know if you have any information on the Davlins. I know they lived in Bowie Co. for a while, and there son Jessie R. Was in WW1.

We had such a good time, but were so busy trying to find out everything, that we learned nothing! My Davlins were from Van Zandt Co., for some reason I have a feeling that my John and your F.P.I. are brothers. I just need one clue, and I will find it. My Dad wasn't born when John died so for some reason it just wasn't inportent for him to know about the Davlins. Dad is next to the youngest of a lot of children, but now the three oldest have passed away,and I still need that CLUE!

They are the parents of Martha Callie PITTMAN who lived with her aunt Martha PITTMAM DAVLIN and uncle Hugh DAVLIN (married 1863 in Red River County, Texas) in Ellis County, Texas in 1900 as a niece and 1910 Scurry, Kaufman, Texas, as boarder. His mother's name was Elizabeth,and his father's name was John Pittman. My grandmother Elizabeth died at an early age and my father was primarily raised by his maternal grandmother francis or Patsy Lockett(locus). She was married to Elex lockett or locus. Do not believe Elizabeth was twin of Malissa Victoria Busby but wife of Harlan Paige Busby based on 1880 census and the 1870 census for the Busby's listed in Titus county.

Starr Cemetery located on CR 1215 approximately 2 miles from FM 17. There is an Historical Marker located on the property that states: "James F. Starr, acting as attorney for Sarah F. Clapp, executed a deed donating 2 acres of land at this site for a community school on September 14, 1886. Burials occurred here as early as 1889, and in 1911 a cemetery was officially established when A. C. White and his wife sold two adjoining acres.

I confess this family has not been entirely researched, but my records indicate that William Busby did have a daughter Elizabeth, twin to Amanda.
Elizabeth Ann Frances Busby, b 12 Mar 1851 died in Rush Springs Oklahoma 30 Apr 1931. She married very young...
3 June 1866 to James Johnson Ruffin and I have 7 children listed for her.
I have not found the grave of William F. Busby so have no actual dates for him. He may be in Starr Cemetery in Van Zandt with his wife Amanda Fuller who died 29 Aug 1890.
