I bought the book "Our Ellis County Heritage, 1885-1974" at a library book sale. I can do look-ups or if you have family in the book, I will mail it to you.

I am searching for death data for a Ludwig Appel (and wife Katherine) and siblings who came to Ellis Co before the 1910 census from Russia. He was a farmer in your county for at least 25 years. Perhaps an obituary would give me the brothers of Ludwig and where Ludwig is buried? Please, can you help me? I know by the 1930 census that he was 56 years old. He came to America with wife and some of the children in 1907 aboard the Grosser Kurfurst ship from Russia to New York Thank you, Janice Sly P.S. Are there Appel descendants still in Ellis County

I'm sorry, I no longer have that book, and I do not live in Ellis County, nor have I ever researched in Ellis County. Hopefully, someone who lives there or has the book can help you.
Have you checked the Ellis County GenWeb page at http://www.okgenweb.org/~okellis/
Perhaps you could contact one of the libraries or historical societies mentioned at the Ellis County GenWeb.

Ludwig Appel born 09 Aug 1882 died 15 Apr 1940
Katherine Appel born 26 Aug 1882 died 17 Dec 1967
Both are buried in the Luthern Cemetery southwest of Shattuck. Several other Appel are buried in this cemetery.

The Two Ludwigs that are both buried in Ellis County....Lutheran Cemetery are both listed as a son of Ludwig.

You will need to reach Appel family members to get this clarified. I am forwarding this post on to Appel researcher.
