In Grafton& Colborne Pres. Church in 1844 Garrett Hibbert (spelled Hubbart) married M.Agnes Crowder, both of Haldimand.In the 1851 census they were in Haldimand- name spelled Hobbart.. In the 1861 census they were living in Morris Twp. Huron County with 6 children.All but the youngest child "-Sylvester Hibbert" disappeared"! Would there be any relatives living in the Northumberland area?

Dear Joan, I have been reserching the Hibbert family for only a short time but, this is what I have found so far. Garrett was born @1800 in Ireland and was married to Nancy Jane Crowther. I have found records with 4 children listed. John C. Hibbert DOB@1848 DOD unknown, Francis Jacob Hibbert Dob 1851 DOD 1883, Mary Ann Hibbert Dob 1856 DOD 1878 and Sylvester Hibbert Dob 1859 DOD 1897. Garrett is my 3rd great-grandfather.I have more info if you are interested.

Sylvester Smith Hibbert,33,widow, married Margaret Barr in Clinton Tsp Huron County, 7 Feb 1894.

His mother's name is given as Nancy Ann Crowder. Nancy is a common nickname for Margaret.
He died in April 1894 of pneumonia under Hibbert.

CHeck cemeteries in Goderich area to see if Garrett and Nancy are buried there. I didn't find any death registration for either of them.

Dear Joan, I should let you know that ronoslund is my brother. He owns the site but lets me use it. My name is Geri. Thank you so much for the info. I have never found when Garrett and Nancy came to Canada nor had I found any marriage info. There are quite a few Hibberts buried in the Clinton Public Cemetery but I have never found out where Garrett and Nancy where buried. My husband and I plan on a visit this summer. We live in Ottawa so it will be a long drive. I hope to find more info before we go so as to make the trip more worthwhile. I would be happy to share more info with you as I gather it. Geri

I would like to know where to find the records of the Grafton & Colborne Pres. church so I can add this evidence to Garrett and Margarets files. Frank of the 1871 census was Francis Jacob Hibbert DOB 1851. He married Annetta Kennedy of England on 14 Apr 1876 in Morris twp. Sylvester was one of the witnesses. They had 2 children that I have been able to find birth info on ( other than census records) Francis Edward Hibbert ( he was my grandfather) 1876-1935 and Wallace Wellington Hibbert DOB 1879.I found census info of Francis Edward and Wallace in Manitoba and Sask. alone @ 1891 but haven't been able to find out why they were alone. I'll keep you posted as to more info when I get it. By the way- how are you related to Garrett and Margaret if you don't mind my asking? Cheers!
