I am searching for my great-grandparents who were both born in Finland. The only name of a city of have is Karvat Bay, Finland and a passport that shows her last name Hendrickson as Henriksdotter, Johanna. I am trying to find someone who can translate the passport for me along with some postcards.

There has been and probably still is a village called Karvat in the Vöyri and old Oravainen area, perhaps it is village you are looking for
Karvat village = Karvat by in Swedish

Thank you, when looking at maps of Finland I thought at one time I had found a map with Karvat on it, but can't find it again. I will see what I can find under that name.

I did find Karvat on the map again. Thank you. Do you live in Finland? I live in Florida in the United States. Another lady was able to translate the passport I have and found out it had more languages on it than just Finnish or Swedish, it also had French and Russian. I can remember when I was younger my grandmother being called Swede and yet I knew her family came from Sweden, they also said things about being in Russia or came from Russia. None of it made any sense util I started getting more and more into the history of Finland and their lives. I don't believe my great-grandmother ever spoke English or surely not very good but my g-grandfather spoke both. The lady that has been helping me sent me a web page and I took a virtual tour of Finland, it is beautiful the parts I saw.
Thank you again
