I would like to communicate with anyone who has researched slavery in Lincoln County and surrounding area(s). I am trying to identify my connections to a plantation owner there in 1810.

I have general ?s for instance -- were there certain places slaveowners usually went to purchase their slaves? Are there records about such in existence? etc...

Several owners were able to purchase slaves from surrounding farms and other counties. I was able to view microfiche at an LDS library trying to find ties to my family in the same area, so far no luck. Afrigeneas.com also has records for Lincoln County

Thanks for your response. I did not get to ask my grandmother very much about her grandfather which was Evans. How are you related. Again I belong to Ida Kate Parks, She was born on December 4, 1904 she died going on 102 years old. I looked in my book and saw the Ramsey names, but she never told me of the Watts guy. Is that your connection?

Any Robertsons! Looking for a Ben or Mandy

Murray, Willingham, Hill, Freeman, Bull, Sims, Smalley, Barksdale, Ashmore, Parks, Collary, Harper, and Arnold. There are a few more without last names and I have the name of the slaveholder. These are orphans that were bounded or apprenticed.

Nothing on the Robertsons but will keep the name in mind when new records arrive.
