any info on my great-grandfather surname ROOTS was a lay preacher in Newington Kent England in the early 1900's

Don't know if he is related to my family line,but my grandmother name was Roots and was born in Newington in 1897 she was the youngest of 6 .Namely Florence,Sid,Daisy,Frank,Jenny plus 1 other(name unknown) and they were all born there. The only other info i have is that the mother died around 1900.

Thank you for your reply. I was wondering which Newington you were referring to, if it near Sittingbourne then we probably are related . Maybe you could send a message to confirm this. Sorry for the delay.

Yes it is the Newington near Sittingbourne,if we are related i don't think it is a direct from this generation,as very few of the names i mentioned had children,and unsure if any moved to Canada,could be the next generation back.Have yet to discover the parents names which is not helping.

I also have a ROOTS relative who was s'pose to be a lay preacher. Is your's called Silas
