Hi!
There is a man Carl Johannes Emil Häftig born in Lummelunda parish,Gotland county on the 15th of Aug 1863.
I have not found any moving-out record for him, but in census 1890 for Visby town he is noticed as absent since 1881, which can indicate that he has moved for ex emigrated.
If this is the man you are asking for, his father was Carl Axel Häftig born in Lummelunda 1834, died there 12th of May 1875. The mother was Anna Chatarina Häftig, born Söderberg 29th of Dec 1834 in the parish Molilla in Kalmar county. She is still living in census for 1900 on Nors in Westkinde parish, Gotland county.
This is of course only a tips!

I am not related

Thanks for the info. Didn't have much only name on Charles and where he might have been from. He fell off the face of the earth. I am totally new at this. Sorry.

I never heard of this Emibas CD. How expensive is it? And how do I get one?

I am under the impression that the Emibas CD is no longer available. I can't find any place online selling it. It was rather expensive. I don't remember exactly, but it was around $100 or more.

Once you've had a lookup on the Emibas CD, that is it. There is no more information for that person. It is an index to the far more detailed and far more helpful Swedish parish records, so you should be searching in those records once a parish name is found.

I did see it on one of the multiple sites I looked at, I couldn't even tell you which. It was 91.00 American. More then I can afford. I am going to buy a book called "Your Swedish Roots", have you heard of it? I was born in Minneapolis and am going this Summar. As you probably know, many Swedes settled in Minnesota. There are two Swedish Societies. I am going to see what they have and see if I can come up with anything.

It is fairly recently that it has been difficult or perhaps impossible to purchase the Emibas CD.

This place used to sell it, but doesn't now.

Another place which used to sell that cd is this one but they haven't sold it for a very long time.

"Your Swedish Roots" is one of the two major guidebooks for Swedish genealogy. I own that book and also "Cradled in Sweden".

The Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center is a fantastic place to do research in Swedish American records. Records are NOT online.
