Are you from Mobile? My grandmother was Sara Christine Oden Stall. Her great uncle was Hezekiah Sr. Hez.'s mother was Sarah Susanne and I'm making a leap that possibly he named a dau after her. I only have info on Hez.'s son, Peter. Would appreciate info, will share mine. Hello Glenda. I will be happy to share my information. My e-mail is King_cynthia@prc.com So far my information goes back to 1648, William Odean. Hezekiah was the son of Thomas and Sarah Susanne. He was born 1718 in Edgefield SC. His brother, Alexander is who my family is descended from. Alexander married Letitia Bussey and they had a son, Joshua. Joshua was my greatgrandfather James Edley's father. I'll be happy to e-mail you all my info in the next couple of weeks. My side of the Odens moved to Nansmond Co. VA (Suffolk area), then into the Alabamas. The last of our Odens are in Alabama. My grandmother was SAra Christine Oden Stall. Where did your husbands Odens come from?

am trying to find an e.g.oden who married a peeples. parents would have been oden and cabiness from north carolina to georgia in 1816 and went on to alabama in 1827, the year alabama became a state. i understand that the odens, busseys and dempseys were clans from ireland that came to america at the same time and married within the clans. my great grandfather, bill arp oden, wrote a book and said that the odens have been in the country so long that he could trace back that far. am willing to share any info i have (which is limited) and am interested in any links you may have to my family. thanks.

I have information from a Linda Peoples that is quite extensive. In researching her family line the Odens appear many times. From what I can figure out, these four families intermarried with each other dating from the mid 17th century. Those names are; Oden, Bussey,Dempsey and Peoples. I am desended from William Arp Oden son of Eldridge Gerry Oden (married to Lavinia Peeples) who was the son of William Dempsey Oden (married to Rebecca Cabiness). William Dempsey Oden is the brother of Joshua Bussey Oden. William is the son of Alexander Oden. As I said, these names intertwine repeatedly in the family tree starting in South Carolina and ending, mostly,in Alabama. If any of this sounds familiar please feel free to contact me. I have seen the family tree several times in pieces. I am putting together a surprise book on the Oden's for Christmas presents. My husbands name is John Paul Oden. His father was Glen C. Oden. The line goes back to John Piney Oden, Joshua Oden, Alexander Oden. I know that they all lived on a big piece of land in Alabama. I also figured out that the original name was Odean. I was glad to receive your message. I hadn't checked the message board for quite some time so I'm sorry if you have been waiting for a reply. We definetely have relatives in common. My brother Andy has done the bulk of the research on our family tree but he received most of his information from a Dr. Linda Peoples. The Peoples (Peeples) family and the Oden family, as well as the Busseys and the Dempseys are all related by marriages, sometimes in every generation.
