I am trying to find any information from the census of Matthew Willis and his family.

Matthew born 1790 in Lnagtree, Devon England. He died in Lancaster Grant Wisconsin in 1879 so the information would come from 1860 and 1870 census

If anyone can help it would be appreciated

Thank for this interesting information which has given me a different picture of my ancestors. I now have the census for 1860, 1870 and this information which is reaaly interesting. Where are these records kept?

If you find any information of any type please don't hesitate to send to me so that when I do manage to visit Lancaster Grant then I will have a feel for the area.

Thank you once again.

The census' are available online. Ancestry.com of course, or if you don't have a subscription, you can go to the library, and most have ancestry subscriptions that you can get online and look at the images, and print them too. If you have a chance, the Wisconsin state historical society is located in Madison, Wi. They are on the campus of the UW and have tons of geneology stuff, and are very helpful in your searching. I can highly recommend at least a day to research!Good luck on your searching.

Thank you so much for information you gave me but there is one thing I may not have told you and that is I don't live in the USA I live in the UK. I have Ancestry.UK. and our libraries do not have Ancestry.Com so I am having to rely on help from like minded people like me to help guide me through my research so that when I can get to the USA and I can see for myself. My husband and I being seniors.

Matthew Willis is my great grandfathers older brother and he came to the US between 1850 and 1860 with his four sons John, Philip, Richard and William and wife Jenny/Jane. Thomas married a Susan Haar in Grant in 1863. Most of the research I have aquired is from trawling around the internet with the help of Cyndi's List.
