Amelia J. PARKER, daughter of Hamilton PARKER and Martha JOSLIN was born at Gentry Co., MO, April 5, 1966; Departed this life at Memorial Hospital, Jan 14, 1951 at the age of 84 yrs, 9 mo's, and 9 days.
At the age of 3 yrs. her mother was killed by lightning and she was adopted out to a Dave McCULLEY at Darlington, MO, where she grew to womanhood.
It was a good christian home and at an early age she joined Long Branch Baptist Church.
In 1883 she was united in marriage to John J. SMITH and to this union two daughters were born, Clara Mabel and Anna Elizabeth. Her husband preceded her in death in May, 1924, and Anna September 25, 1942.
In 1907 they moved to a homestead southeast of Eads and in 1920 moved to Eads where she resided most of the time until her passing.
She had been ill for several months at the home of her daughter, where she took seriously ill and was removed tot he hospital where she passed away.
After coming to CO in 1907 she was called far and near in sickness; she was always kind and considerate, would never speak evil of anyone and was loved by all who knew her.
She was a charter member of U. B. Church in Kansas Valley and transferred her membership to Eads and is now a member of E. U. B. Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, Clara SMITH of Eads, nine grandchildren and twenty-five grandchildren and four great great grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.
