We are trying to find the origin of Apolinari Janowski. We have found an old childs report card that belonged to a second cousin that came from Jarocin. We feel that perhaps the entire family lived within a few miles of each other and Jarocin might be a good starting place for us. If anyone has any information on maps that might be helpful or just information that would point us in the right direction we would really appreciate it.

Today may be your lucky day. I have been searching around the Pieczykowo (spelling?) area of Poznan near Jarocin for my great-grandfather, Karzimierz ORZECHOWSKI, born 1856. His oldest daughter, Agnieszka, b. 1881 in Poland to wife, Marianna ZAWORSKA, b. 1856, married Walenty ( William ) JANOWSKI (b. 1880, son of Marcin, b. 1849, and Katarzyna ) in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, US. These families moved to Buffalo, New York, over the years 1907-1923.
I do not have any reason to believe that Apollinarii is related, but I copied the following last week:
LDS film #1191127 - Poland, Poznan, Nowe Miasto, ‘Dek. Nowe Miasto, Archidiec. Poznan’ excerpts from Latinized records of Catholics: Apollinarius JANOWSKI (AJ) and family:

Item 1 or 2 on film: marriages:
1857 #25 8/16 AJ, age 27, son of Mathaei and Catharinae J. of E(r?)chivica (scribbled)

with Susanna LIPINSKA, 38, ‘vidua’ STASINSKA
1859 #32 indexed, missing section? AJ with ‘Francisca’ FIEBIG.

Item 3: births:
1858 #95 11/19 at Kleka (‘e,’ with hook = en), Adam to AJ and Susanna Lipinska
1860 #78 10/16 at Kleka, Bruno to AJ and Faustina Fiebig
1862 #2 1/4 at Kleka, Veronica to AJ and Faustina Fiebig; witness Francisca Fiebig
1863 #61 6/24 at Kleka, Petrus to AJ and Faustina Fiebig; witnesses Franciscus Janowski and Antonina Fiebig
1866 #34 3/27 at ‘Klenka’, Vincentus to AJ and Faustina Fiebig
1869 #24 3/27 at Klenka, Leo to AJ and Faustina Fiebig
1872 #32 3/20 at Klenka, Marianna to AJ and Faustina Fiebig; witness Nicolaus Fiebig

Item 4: deaths: (1852 - cholera epidemic)
1858 #63 11/26 at Kleka, Adam, infant of AJ and Susanna Lipinska, cause ‘ignotus’ (unknown?)
1858 #65 11/28 at Kleka, Susanna Janowska Lipinskieh (j?), cause ‘in partu’, ‘uxor’ wife of AJ, husband’s profession ‘lensuarn’?
1860 #37 10/27 at Kleka, Bruno, infant of AJ and Faustina Fiebig, cause ‘ignotus’, father’s profession ‘lensuur’?
1862 #3 1/13 at Kleka, Veronica, infant of AJ and Faustina Fiebig, cause ‘debilis’.

Good luck. (Email Longymafm@AOL.com changing to JLong@Adelphia.net)

I'm sorry I can't connect these families. I have not been able to trace back to Poland for the Martin JANOWSKI family. He was born in 1849 in Poland; his wife Kate was born about 1858, and they married about 1870. Their oldest son was Walenty, b. 1880, who married my grandmother Catherine's older sister, Agnes ORZECHOWSKA on 5/1/1900 in Ledgedale, Wayne Co., PA. Agnes was born in 1881 in Poland, as her husband. The Janowski family apparently arrived in the US between 1880 and 1886. The next child might have been born in PA, but several after that were born in Brooklyn and NYC, before the last were born in Wayne Co., PA. The girls married in several towns in the eastern part of the County, including Honesdale, but the family was neighbors of the Karzmierz Orzechowski and Maryanna ZAWORSKA family in Arlington, Hawley Township, Wayne Co. The Orzechowski's had arrived from Poland in 1886 and settled soon in Scranton. Maryanna's younger sister, Katarzyna Zaworska, married Kazimierz KMIECIAK (of Scranton and Buffalo-Lackawanna, NY) brother of Wawrynziec ( Lorenz ) and possibly the son of Lawrence ( Laurentius ) Kmieciak. Katarzyna's daughter, Mary married Jan WILK of 'Austria', who finally settled in Buffalo.

Our Apolinari Janowski would have been born approximately 1840 we belicve he was a twin. We do not know if they were identical. Apolinari married Faustina Febych and had the following children that we know of... Joseph, Vincent DOB March 27, 1866, Veronica, Peter, and Anthony (Antoni).
We have no evidence that Apolinari came to the US, the migration seemed to start with his sons and they located in Luzerne county, PA in a town called Hazleton in or about 1890.
Vincent, Peter and Anthony met three Wilczenski sisters in Hazleton and each boy married a sister.
