I am looking for connections to John Lewis who died in Westerly around 1690. Who was he married to, where was he born? I am also looking for Samuel Lewis information, too.
Thank you!

I am a 12th generation decendant of John Lewis, d.1690, of Westerly, RI.. If my lineage and family tree is of benefit please reply.
In addition, CHECK OUT THIS WEB SITE, ESPECIALLY THE EXCERPTS FROM THE BOOK "The Family History of Ladd J. Lewis"

John Lewis is my 7th G grandfather.
I can follow your husband's line down to
John > Samuel > Jonathan > Caleb.
Do you have any information down from Caleb?
My line continues down from Caleb to ELIJAH who married Lucy Odell > LUANA/LUANIE who married Michael Alderman.

I would be most interested in hearing from you.
Thank you,
Nancy Whipple Erbland

The web page I refered to is of Scott Edward Lewis, i believe my 5th cousin.
It was prepared by his wife Denise (Graber) Lewis.
I noted that page because of the excerpts from the book "The Family History of Ladd J. Lewis'.

My Lineage is John (d.1690) > Samuel > Jonathan > Jonathan II > Jonathan III > Jonathan IV > Iram > Ansel T > Eugene > Ansel I > Paul > Richard

I have no information down from Caleb

I am always looking to add to my tree, and would be happy to exchange whatever i have.

Hello,

My paternal line runs directly from Caleb.

I currently list my direct line in the children section for now, with more siblings to be added later.

Hope it helps,
Cheryl Saucier-Wilson

Hello,

I was reading about your ancestor, Ladd J. Lewis. Can you tell me how he would have been related to John Lewis, b. 1690, RI? John Lewis is my 7th great-grandfather.

I currently have my direct line finished but not all siblings, so I'm thinking Ladd fits in somewhere as a sibling of my direct line but not sure...

Thanks,

Ladd John Lewis is not my direct ancestor.
Our most recent common ancester is Jonathan Lewis III.

Ladd's lineage is John, Samuel, Jonathan, Jonathan II, Jonathan III, Moses, John Ladd, Ladd John Lewis

My lineage is John, Samuel, Jonathan, Jonathan II, Jonathan III, Jonathan IV, Iram, Ansel Thomas, Eugene, Ansel Iram, Paul, myself (Richard A Lewis)

As I have offered before, if you or anyone would like a free photocopy of Ladd J Lewis's book "A Genealogical History of My Ancestors and the Story of My Life", please email me at ralewis@tricountysupply.com

John Lewis' wife is unknown as is his origins. The first record of him is when he signed the Articles of Agreement 22 Mar 1661 at the settlement of Misquamicut.

His wife's name is never given in the records. On-line accounts listing a wife are spurious. Accounts of his origins cannot be substantiated.

There are some anecdotal accounts passed down traditionally that are interesting, but they are unverifiable. Also with each re-telling over the generations, these anecdotes have undoubtedly been enhanced. The "five brothers came to America ...," for example, is total fiction.

I am very interested in John Lewis. I went to the family report of Denise on John Lewis. She shows John's son Daniel m. Mary Maxson and list 5 children. John, Jonathan, Mary, Dorcas and Hannah. Their was another child. His name was Daniel. This Daniel married Martha Crosely - No issue that I know of, Then married Martha Prosser who was 1st married to John Maxson. Daniel Lewis and Martha Posser Maxson had Elias, Jonathan, Daniel,Maxson, Martha and Hannah, My line is from Elias who married Susannah Reynolds. Their daughter Eunice Nancy Lewis married Thomas Smith. Thomas and Unice Nancy ended up in Clay Co., Ky. This Thomas Smith is s/o Thomas Smith and a Miss Davis. I am trying to find who this Miss Davis is.Does anyone know?? There is other Davis family that connect to the Lewis family. Example is my Elias and Susannah above had a son Elias who married Elizabeth Browning. Her parents were Ephraim Browning and Susannah Davis (do not know her parents). Ephraim and Susannah's son Hazard Browning married Hannah Lewis who was d/o Daniel Lewis and Anna Clarke. This Daniel was s/o Daniel and Martha Prosser Maxson Lewis.
Any help with the first name of my Miss Davis would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
Judith

The line you show agrees with that published in "The Lewis Families" by Michael Cook. He shows Eunice dying in New York. Have you verified that the Thomas and Unice Nancy Smith in Clay Co, KY, is the same Thomas and Eunice from RI?

I have not verified Cook's account of Eunice dying in NY, but this is not my line. I descend from both Israel-2 and John-2.

How do you know that Unice Nancy in Kentucky is nee' Lewis?

I could not find the Smiths in my database transcribed from RI records, but then I was not researching th Davis or Smith families.
