Bill, I saw your query online. I have been tracing Gunters for quite sometime. I have not found an early
German connection. Instead, I have found most of those who came to
Virginia during 1700's to be of British descent.
What caught my eye about your posting was the
Parker Gunter name. I have been working on making sense of the connection between the Parkers and Gunters for a long time. In WV, my best friend was my cousin. She was a
Parker, my mother a
Gunter. I have even followed the story of a free Black from
Accomack County VA named
Parker Gunter who names a son the same. Apparently, the Parkers and Gunters knew each other in
England as they both witness a will for a grandaughter. I think that the Parkers, Gunters, and Savages held large land holdings on the
Virginia neck--now
Accomack County. I don't know if any of this helps you, but I would like to correspond with you. Cathy
