Seeking to connect with other descendants of Jacob Tremble (1753-1819) and Phoebe Dunham (1755-1843) who married in Essex Co, New Jersey in 1775. The family emigrated to Turtlecreek Township, Warren Co, Ohio about 1796. Some of Jacob's children spelled their surname: Trimble.

It would appear that Jacob Tremble and his family are about in the same time frame and possibly location to be related to my great-great grandfather, Alexander Tremble (b 1794, d1846) He was apparently born & married in Essex County New YORK, and buried in Marshall Michigan. He and most of his family lived in Suamico Wisconson for a time, Your family is from New Jersey -- could there be an error in the records somewhere on either side?

Per some Daughters of the American Revolution paperwork I have, above is apparently cited in "Richard Higgins and His Decendants". I have not yet seen the text or references personally.

Does Jacob have any known siblings? Do you have information on his parents and where they may have lived/married, etc.

Jacob Tremble was definitely born in Essex County, New Jersey. His Revolutionary War Pension Papers confirm this. He was also married there are the home of his brother-in-law Elisha Dunham. One of his brothers married in New York but other than that, I don't have any records of New York for this generation.

Jacob's parents were DANIEL TREMBLES, b. 1731, d.1779 in Elizabeth, Essex Co, NJ (will is filed in Essex Co. NJ) and ELIZABETH GRAY, b. 1729, d. bef. 1779.

Given the timeframe, Alexander Tremble could be the son of one of Jacob's brothers. Here's what I have on them:
1 - Moses, b. 1751, m. Elizabeth Parker 30 may 1783 in New York
2 - Isaac, b. 1757; m. Nancy Downer
3 - Joseph, b. 1763; m. Rachel Matilda Downer and Mary ?
4 - Aaron, b. 1765. He was still living in 1841 to make statement on Phoebe Tremble's petition for Rev. War. Pension. He lived in Warren co, Ohio at one time.

It's pretty certain that this family line was in Elizabeth, Linden, Rahway areas in Essex Co. New Jersey for a number of years (there are still some descendants there, although not named Tremble).

Your Alexander could be a descendant of one of Jacob's brothers. I don't have any record of what happened to them.

Just curious if you have the death date for Daniel (son of Jacob & Phoebe) that was born in 1778 to see if I can make a connection there, if it's possibly the same Daniel or perhaps even his father.

I am looking for my gg grandfather's parents. His name is Daniel A. Trimble b. abt. 1820 d. 1874 Coatsville, Schuyler Co., Mo..

Their son Daniel was born in 1778 in NJ. I checked my files for other Daniel Trimble or Tremble and found only one that was close in age ....

Daniel H. Tremble, b. 1829 in Harrison Co, IN - don't have his death date or place but he had children born up till 1881 so not the same as yours. Many from this Tremble/Trimble family line went west to California.

The Trimble name was prominently used in Ohio in late 1700s-early 1800s since there was a governor with that surname.

Thanks for the information. I have that. Where I can't find Daniel is in Ohio with his parents. Morgan County is the only place in Ohio I can find him. I know that he was a boatman on the river in Ohio-what river? I can only assume it was the Muskingum River. Can you tell me is there an organization that might have such information?
I would entertain any suggestions at this point, I have been looking forever. Even went to Ohio and didn't find any record stating anywhere where he was born, other than the censuses-that start 1850 with family names listed.
