hi i havw a gr.gr.gr. uncle jacob gollobic/golobic born 1833 in austria,i don,t know where,i am hoping the surname is familiar, jacob and wife mary imm. to california in 1876,any help with this family would be appreciated. thank you sheila

I´m not sure if this will help you.... but you can find the name "GOLLOBICH" in Burgenland in "Nikitsch", "Kobersdorf" and "Kaisersdorf".

the name Golob/Gollobic/Gollubich and variants comes about as example slovenian GOLOB = Dove
similar variants also in other slavic languages like
croatian > Golub
czech and slovak > Holub

in Burgenland it will have possible the croatian orgin.

in Siegendorf (cinfalva) there were a Jakob Gollubich. But he were born on july 16, of 1838. His parents are Michael Gollubich and Johanna Kollarich.
Jakob were married with Maria Becs from St. Nikolaus.
They had very much children, named: Maria, Agnes, Johann, Mathias, Anna, Karl, Franz, Rosalia, Johanna and Elisabeth.
