I'm looking for information on the family of George H. Ballard, who is buried in the Greenleaf Cem., near Tahlequah, in Cherokee Co., OK. He was married 3 times. His first wife had two children: Mary C. Ballard, b. Sept 1886 TX, and Thomas Preston, b. Feb 1889. George m. 2nd to a Mary (____) and had two more children: Myrtle F. Ballard, b. Apr 1899 TX and Frank, b. 1903 TX. George m. 3rd to Lucinda Stain?. They appeared in the 1910 Cherokee Co., OK census in Township 4.

Little is known about this family. In 1900, they were in Mills Co., TX. George probably married Lucinda after arriving to Oklahoma.

Son, Thomas Preston Ballard, participated in WWI and in 1925 married Lula Ellen Scott, dau of Albert Scott and Hannah Teehee??

Any help on these families would be greatly appreciated. They are said to be of Cherokee blood.

I have some Ballards in my family. My grandmother on my fathers side was a Ballard. She had a brother, Tom married to Lula they lived in the Stone Chapel, Ryder area near Camp Gruber till they passed away. They had several children, George, Ray, Irene, Joyce can't think of the others. They are my cousins and haven't seen or heard of them for a number of years. My grandmothers name was Mary Elizabeth (Ballard)McDaniel. I don't know if this is of the same family but if it is i hope it helps.

You are from the same family! George is the son of Tom and Lula, and he lives in Siloam Springs, AR. He is married to my cousin, Norma Kincheloe!

The George H. Ballard buried in Greenleaf cemetery is kin. George first wife was Phroney Shepherd, also buried in Greenleaf Cemetery. George then married Mary E. Casbeer on September 2, 1897 in Goldthwaite, Mills Co., TX. Phroney's brother Dan Shepherd is buried at Park Hill Cemetery. I have a copy of George and Mary Casbeer marriage Lic. I also have a picture of George H. Ballard with other family members. George was born March 1865 in AL and died April 6, 1917.

My grandchildren are related to this line of Ballards. Their mother was Joyce Ann Ballard Gower. Would love to share information.

Joyce was was cousin. Her father, Thomas, was a brother to my grandmother.

My Great Grandfather was George Fox. He was a Cherokee from East Texas and married a white cowgirl. He took on the last name Ballard. He moved his family away and eventually made their way to Southern California.

Anyone out there know this part of my family?
