I am looking for distant relatives to Henry James Anderson born 1853 died 1936 and was married to Christina Henrietta Elliot. They went to Strathmore, Alberta around 1910 from Killarney, Manitoba. A daughter Katherine Amelia Anderson married Walter Edgar Eggleton and remained in Killarney, Manitoba with husband when her parents moved. Her brother Robert also remained in Killarney, Manitoba. I am doing an extensive ancestorial research as I am a distant relative to the Eggleton line. I would like to know if there is any distant relatives from the Anderson line that can help with my search for info on Katherine's parents and brothers and sisters. They went to Killarney from somewhere in Ontario before moving to Strathmore, Alberta. I am trying to find out where she was born in Ontario and am trying to find a picture of her parents as well as info on this Anderson family. I know that Henry and his wife are buried in Strathmore Cemetery and that there is a writeup in a book on he as well as a picture of him. I don't know what book but would like to have the article as well as a copy of his picture from this book if at all possible. Am also looking for death obit in newspaper of him if there is one. I have been searching for a long time and would appreciate any help that I may be able to get. Other children of Henry and Christina were Agnes J., Arthur William, George B and Frederick J. I recall checking with the local paper on an ANDERSON for a lady in England, and that may very well have been you, but, if not here is the message that I saved and passed on to her. The site to check up on the archives would be the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, Alberta.

There is an obituary of Mrs. Anderson in the Strathmore Standard, October 13, 1938, as well as a write-up on the family in the local history, Strathmore : The Village that Moved. According to the information, she was born in Goderich, Ont., July 16, 1852. She married Mr. Harry ANDERSON "about 1875". In 1879 they homesteaded near Crystal City, Man. and in 1882 moved to Killarney, Manitoba. In 1910 they and their children moved to Strathmore. Mr. Anderson died in 1936; Mrs. Anderson was survived by 5 sons and 2 daughters (2 daughters had pre-deceased her), as well as grand-children and great grand-children.

I can mail or fax a copy of the obituary and the entry from the local history if you will provide an address, but we do charge $10.00 (+GST) for copying and mailing charges.

I never thought to ask before but was checking the board here and thought that if you wanted me to check on the cemetery to see what .. if anything... is on the gravestones of your relatives. Let me know and I will do so if you wish.

Yes I am looking for a Francisco Cockx born 1873 in Holland and Cornelllia Marie (Hartman) Cockx born 1878 in Holland but both died and buried in Strathmore, Alberta.

I am willing to look for you, but it will be spring before I can find out... everything here is under about 4 inches of ice and three feet of snow right now... I am not sure what kind of index is available at the funeral home, so I will likely have to walk around the cemetery to find the stones.Hope that works for you.

I willl check if they have a headstone and what is on it when I can get to them through the ice and snow in the spring.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Terry for directing me in the right direction when I had put my inquest in a few years back. I have obtained info to help fill in some of my gaps on Henry James (known as Harry) and Christina (Elliot) Anderson. I am still looking for any relatives related to these people as they are my great great great grandparents. I am trying to locate a picture of them also and of the family members. The picture from the book Strathmore, The Village That Moved cannot be made big enough to allow for a good picture. Many thanks also to Lindsay Moir for sending me the information as well as the obits from the newspaper on these two people. I just can't thank you all enough. I would like also to get the obits if there are any from the newspapers for John and his wife Agnes (Anderson/daughter of Henry and Christina) Cleeve. John died in 1941 and Agnes had died in 1922. They are buried in Strathmore Cemetery also. There is also a William Francis Anderson that died in 1943 which I believe is a son to Henry and Christina also but I have no further info on him so would like to acquire the obit for him also if possible.
