We have purchased a steamer trunk that has the name of George R. Sandborg, Galesburg, IL on it. We know that the trunk was made from 1904 to 1930. It is very complete and in excellent shape. We would like to know more about Mr. Sandborg if anyone has any information.

April 24, 1908 "The Daily Herald" Chicago, IL

"John R. Sandberg 73 years old, a Galesburg mechinist, was strangled to death by his false teeth. In going down to the cellar stairs he caught his heel on a step and fell. The fall caused his false teeth to become dislodged, and drop in his throat, strangling him to death before help could reach him."

John appears to be the father of George Sandberg

Hi, we purchased the steamer trunk at an antique store in Cedar Rapids, IA. It is in such good shape and so complete. I would like for you to see pictures of it if you would send me your address or email address. Are you interested in buying it from us? My husband says that he is willing to sell it to you at a reasonable price, since your are family. It might be nice for you to have.
Thanks, Karen Schluter

Hi, we actually purchased the steamer truck in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at an antique shop. It is so very nice and in very good shape. It is sitting upright and open in our livingroom at the moment. We would be willing to sell it. We bought it for $50.00 and would sell it to family, like yourself for the same amount. We realize how important family heirlooms are. We live in northeast Iowa, and you would have to come and get it or would have to make some arrangements. Please email us back. Thanks, Karen.
