Does anyone know whether a passenger list exists for the ship "McDonald" that sailed from Inverness to Montreal in 1786.
Looking for a possible ancestor, Donald McDonald, who married Christy CORBETT in 1808 in Glengarry, Ontario, Canada.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello Donna, The passenger list of the "McDonald" is lost but their is a list of emigrants from North Britain(Scotland) located by James McDonell in 1786-1787 contains an unusual discovery the notation on the cover sheet that states that these people came to Glengarry with Angus MeDunell(Sandaig). It is therfore equivalent to a passenger list of adults who came on the vessel McDonald from Scotland in 1786.-- will help more if asked --Manley

Re: Passenger list "McDonald" sailed 1786 to Canada
The passenger list for the ship "McDonald"is lost. A list of persons who were located by Mr. James McDonell in the years 1786, 1787 in Lancaster and Charlottenburgh townships exists. This list is the adult males who received property after arriving on the ship "McDonald". Roderick McLeod was located Lancaster, concession 5 lot 25, index no.J570. He is the only McLeod I see on the list(possibly Malcolms father?)-Manley McDonald
