Confirmation of Village of Great Grandparents

We finally have Confirmation of the exact Village my Great Grandparents came from:-

Holubivka, Zhytomyrs'ka, Ukraine, 12533

Aparently in this Village they were all Polish apart from two Ukranians.
My Great Grandfather brought lots of land. They were doing very well until the War started and the Russians came and turned their farm and neighbours farms into one collective farm.
Does anyone have any idea how I can look further into this?
The family was:-

Father Anton Lachera
Mother Helina/Helena Lachera
Children:-
Janek Lachera 1926
Michalina Lachera (My Nan) May/1928
Andrej Lachera 1930
Miecyslaw Lachera 1930

Kind Regards

Karen

Karen,

There are other Holubivka in Ukraine, but....

Голубівка, Ружинський район, Житомирська область = Holubivka, Ruzhynskyi raion, Zhytomyrska oblast. Postal code 13645.

Postal code 12533, belongs to Kropyvnia, Korostyshivskyi raion, Zhytomyrska oblast.

I could not find any history on this village of 822 inhabitants.

You may want to write to the village administrator.

Address:

Голубівська сільська рада
Голубівка село
вул.Радянська,9
Ружинськи район
Житомирська область
Україна 13645

Hi Lorsyl

Thank you for your reply and information.

From speaking to Great Uncle last night. His description gave us the exact point of it was 30km east of Zytomyr and 15kms east of Korostyshiv and approximately 80kms west of Kiev. So your information re the Holubivka our family comes from is written out then:-

Holubivka, Korostyshivskyi raion, Zhytomyrska oblast. 12533

Do you know the Administrator or Archives for that area or will records just be, maybe with Zhytomyr Archives? ?

Many thanks

Karen

If you open Google Maps and search for these coordinates [50.256864,29.255791] you will find it, actually a little SE of Korostyshiv.

Zhytomir Archives would cover this region but sometimes there is overlap with certain types of records at Kiev Archives.

Karen,

No, that is not what I wrote.

What I wrote, is that postal code 12533 belongs to Kropyvnia, Korostyshivskyi raion, Zhytomyrska oblast.

Postal code 13645 belongs to Holubivka, Ruzhynskyi raion, Zhytomyrska oblast.

Karen,

Did you get in touch w/Andrij Dorosh? When he and I spoke, he told me there is a bunch of Lachera living in the Kropyvny (Holybivka) cluster.

Hi..

Sorry no I havent yet been in contact with him as we have been away Skiing. I am now going through my Emails.
I have just seen an email from him giving me a list of names yes. Very interesting. I have had a phone call this evening from a Olia Grabovska who was trying to say to me that her Grandmothers name is Michalina Lahera. We have been trying to find a possible link but need to look more into wether my Great Grandfather had any brothers or sisters.

I see as per your post in another forum that you are still in doubt whether this is the right place.

Karen, this is the right place.

I would suggest that you contact Andrij, as he has access to Zhytomir Archives. Although I was told by Village Secretary where the filial RC Parish was located, Andrij will have to check that out. His rates are very fair.

One of the problems might be that the family originated in Podolya, before the early thirties, when Stalin herded most Poles in Central Ukraine into the Zhytomir area. You might want to ask Great Uncle if he knows for sure that the family had resided in this region for more than a few generations.
