Can you tell me more about your Burkharts? My George Willard Burkhart supposedly lived for awhile in Randolph County after 1866. His father Michael was born in Germany and George W. in PA, 4 Oct 1834. Is there a connection to your family? Thanks

I have no record of a Michael or George Burkhart in my family. As far as I've found out, John Burkhart born in 1810, immigrated from Germany and ended up in Randolph County, IL by the late 1830's. He married Mary (Marcella) Cannady (Canada) in 1839 in Randolph County. They had several children, Elizabeth, Genevieve, James Jacob, Juliette, Antoin, Edward. Elizabeth married a Henry DeRousse, Genevieve married twice, her second husband being Thurston Thomas and spent her life in Randolph County. James Jacob married Sarah Hardesty and left for MO and AR in 1880's settling in ID by 1915. Juliette, married James Martin who died shortly after. She was last living in 1880 with her daughter in Randolph County. Antoin died in childhood. Edward is last living with his father in Randolph County in 1880.

Have you found any information on the DeRousse clan?

A definitive published work on the DeRousse clan is Ruth Menard's book "A French Connection II". It contains almost 1600 members of the clan in 78 pages and tracks the family through 13 generations from 1675 to the mid-1990s.

The Henry DeRousse of interest was likely the Henry born in 1839 in Kaskaskia, IL. He was the son of Charles DeRousse, b. 1797 in Kaskaskia, and Modesto Chamberlain; they married on 30 May 1825 in Kaskaskia. Afraid I don't have any further information on where he is buried.
