STILL looking for eugene o'neill bc1813 cork married ellen wren c 1838. first child, mary thersea born in cork c 1839, 2nd, julia francis born in bristol england c 1841. they arrived c1842 (unknown) but 3rd child john patrick born 1843 in nsw.
eugene jnr born aug.1845, james wren born 1847 and william born 1851 all in nsw. the last two, ellen and alexander born 1852 &58 in melbourne. lived around flinders and spencer sts.
other names in family are BERGIN, CUNNINGHAM,BLACKALL, ETHERIDGE spouses to some of above. Other names include, WRIGHT, CLARK , MORRIS WALLER.

There is no birth listed in VIC for a William O'Neill before 1856.
Maybe post a query on SA message board.

Thank you so much for your reply Alison. I wonder if anyone knows of any other O'Neill's b. AFTER 1856, who may relate to my William O'Neill b.c1850 either Adelaide or Victoria. He is bound to have some siblings & then it would be possible to check a census.

I have O'Neill (now NEILL/NEIL) from Ireland. In regards to census for Australia - forget it, 1828 census on CD for New South Wales, 1841 on www.records.nsw.gov.au not alot were kept, statistics were kept no forms - the first complete census kept was 2006...
Try dropping you O' you may find more like I did.

Yes I have O'Neill, wich was also spelt Neil/Neill. In Victoria I have Hugh Neill and also have Sarah Jane O'Neill (who's parents were Thomas O'Neill/O'Neil/Neill/Neil) who married John Tannahill which became HILL... family available if needed..
Make sure you check the www.rootsweb.com click world connect, www.familysearch.org, the Victorian Gazettes online, Victorian wills are online, the newspapers are online through the National Library of Australia digitising project...

Sorry about that Jenelle ! Apologies ! I am very much in the dark here so thank you for the sites to visit. William came to NZ ( whether alone or with a Brother I have no idea ) other than that is the area on all his Children's BC that he has given - Adelaide, Victoria & SA are on various certs.He married Ellen Mary Driscoll from Monmouth England. BUT. I'm stuck there ! Thank you for your help.

Thank you Jenelle ! Yes, wherever you are - we ate 2hrs ago so you must be in Oz ! William married Ellen Mary Driscoll at The Cathedral, Wellington, NZ,13 July 1873. Ellen Mary was b. Monmouth, Eng. ca.1853 or 4. ( According to the ' various ' ages written on the Children's - & their -MC & BC's )VERY confusing ! Unfortunately I HAVEN'T got a Sub. - the exchange rate is pretty horrific just now ! Barbara.
