Hi
Thanks.

I am trying to track down My 3rd Greatgrandmother, who married Isaac Eyers, which I already have the registraion details of the marriage in 1860, from a previous posting.

Marion died in 1877 and is burried in Hay Flat. She was around 46-47 when she died. I have found a couple of Marion McCloud/McLeod entries on some passenger listed.

One I have found is for the ship SOMERSETSHIRE which landed in SA in 1839. http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/passengerlists/1839Somersetshir...
It has a ref of BISA beside her name entry.

If this is her then I was going to purchase it, as it may have other information out the McCloud Family.

I am also trying to workout why their latter chilren have her maiden name as Taylor and the first as McCloud.

Hi

Looking at the Birth certificate of my 2nd Great grandmother Ruth EYERS, that I have, maybe it was the informat that got it wrong, as this was an Arthur Robertson.

It this point I have no idea how he is connected.

regards

John

Hi John

The SA births index does have TAYLOR as the maiden name on two records.

This is what is in BISA.
EYERS Isaac par: Isaac b: 1835 DOR ENG
arr: 1856 LORD RAGLAN occ: Labourer, Farmer
res: Dairy Flat rel: Wes
m: 23.10.1860 Dairy Flat SA Marion nee MACK
CLOUD par: Angas b: 1830

Maybe the parents????
McLEOD Angus b: c1795 Stroud, Harris SCT
arr: 1853 HERCULES occ: Shepherd
m: by 1853 Ann b: c1796 Stroud, Harris SCT

TheShipsList, Immigrants to South Australia, (UK, assisted passage) 1847-1886, have several Marion McLEODs arriving in 1853 on the Neptune and others in the family arrived on the Hercules in 1853.

Hi John

BISA is worth having if your entire family remained in SA, and more useful for a genealogist to cross reference other records.

My resources do not show an Arthur ROBERTSON in the Yankalilla registration district in the 1860s though there was a Robert ROBERTSON having children and living in the same place Tongulilla/Tonqulilla where Ruth was born.

I did notice a Marian MITCHELL nee TAYLOR having children in the same era in the same registration district though I cannot see how the Registrar would confuse the two as the MITCHELLs lived in different towns. Otherwise, TAYLOR may have been Marian's mother's maiden name and Marian was born and registered before the mother's marriage to Angus McLEOD.

Just some thoughts!

Rhonda

Hi John,
If you follow the references the Marion who arrived 1839 married....
PAINTER William married MCLEOD Marian on 1840-03-09

She would be listed on BISA under her husband.(but not yours anyway)
