i have been researching Spearings for 15 years. While I have no known Andrews back as far as 1790 I can tell you I came across several but they were from Cork.

Spearings in Ireland seem to be found mostly in Cork and Limerick, which suggest that they were originally from England. I can find no other Spearings in Antrim but given that Andrew was a doctor it is possible that he moved to the area to take up a vacant position. Thanks anyway for the reply.

hi its bob spearing again. dont get your hopes up but........ i have been going thru land owner indexes from the 1700s and 1800s for spearings and alt spellings. there have been a ton of andrews. about 1840, the indexes start listing counties. prior to that you would have to rent another mormon film and another and another etc. and find the deed and then determine if it was your andrew in antrim or one of the gazillions of andrews in cork. my new films just came in and next week. i will look for any land deeds for any andrews in antrim from 1840 to 1859. ok!! bob

I have discovered that Andrew Spearing graduated in Medicine at the University of Glasgow in 1851 before coming to Antrim. He died in 1899 and is buried, with his wife and several of his children, in Antrim. I still have no information on his date or place of birth.

i went to the mormon library last nite. from 1830 to 1859 there are approximately 25 andrew spearings in cork who owned land. there were no land owning spearings(or variant spellings) in Antrim for that period.
there are also plenty f andrews prior to 1830 but i have no idea where they are in ireland but i would suspect cork.
sorry i couldnt find any link for you.

hi graham,
we corresponded last year about andrew spearing in antrim.
last week i was looking through irish land deed surname indexes for 1881 and found this listing:
ANDREW SPEARING ANTRIM DECLARATION OF TRUST 1881 VOLUME 13 ITEM #75
It apprears it is his will. There is a corresponding Mormon microfilm for this item where you can actually get yourself a copy of this document. Hopefully you live near a mormon library where you can rent the film for about 6 dollars.
This is the mormon film to order :
Deeds, etc., v. 13-15 1881 FHL BRITISH Film 534529

Thanks. I have noted the reference and will check its location in the PRO. I know a bit about his children already but still cannot find where Andrew came from.
