My name is Hilita Williams. I have been attempting for years to find my family ancestry in tonga. My father is tongan and told me that i was named after my great grandmother. I have lost contact with my dad who settled in new zealand in the 1950's.If anyone could help that would be great or give me any links as to how I would find my father to enable me to have an awareness of my tongan ancestry and carry this on to my children who are always asking questions about their tongan ancestry.

I am also trying to trace my Tongan ancestory, this is difficult if you do not speak the language. However wanted to pass on to you that in the Royal family there is a person called
Hulita who was married to Pita Fotofili. And you might want to investigate this as in my searching I have not seen this first name that often. The spelling is different though but only slightly. Let me know how you get on.

Hello there Hilita and Serenity..I can't believe i'll find you here Serenity.well anyway i think that Hilita stand for a Hulita. I myself type Hulita first than i look that you used Hilita. Anyways i work at a family history center and i know i little pit of tongan ancestor so if you could give me your great grandmother's name i'll be more than happy to look it up.. I am not sure if you are still looking for your father and his family but we may be related. My father's name is James (Semisi) Francis Williams who migrated to NZ in the 1950s. He passed away in 1974. I do know that families with the surname Williams in Tonga are linked to Samoa and Fiji.
