Allen Mitchell left Co. Armagh in the 1830's with his family and settled in Maryborough Co. Ontario. Looking for Irish relatives or Mitchell headstones in the area. Thankyou.

Re: Mitchell family in Crumlin or Keady
I heard that my ancestor Allen Mitchell left Keady Armagh Ireland in 1846...hopped about the Mitiades to Canada. Born in 1790. Would be nice to know if it truly was 1846 and not the 1830's. thankyou, Brenda

Re: Mitchell family in Crumlin or Keady
The info that I received from Margery Hayward [Mitchell decendant] was that Allen b. 1790 lived in Keady, near Crumlin, left Belfast aboard the boat Miltiades - May 8, 1846. The voyage took about 6 weeks and they settled in Montague, between Smith Falls and Brockville. There is quite a lot of history on the Mitchells in Marybourgh Twp. There were 9 children. Allen died Nov. 15, 1856 age 66. Married Mary Mitchell b 1803 d. Aug. 14 1861 age 58. Margery notes that names dates and ages were taken from the tombstone in Derryadd Cemetery, Rothsay, Ontario.

Re: Mitchell family in Crumlin or Keady
I am a decendent of Allen Mitchell. The family eventually settled on lot #52 Prince Edward Island. Then James Mitchell (a child of Allen) came to Maine. His son John Mitchell had my grandfather in 1902 in Livermore Falls, Maine.
