Funeral services for Buddy Truman Voyles,64, Winona, were held at 1pm October 12,1999. Mr Voyles died Friday October 8,1999 after a short battle with cancer. Buddy was born on 6/3/1935 to Jackson and Janie (Martin) Voyles. He was united in marriage to Cora Townsend of Alton, MO on 1/16/1954 at Eminence Mo. To this union three children were born: Greg,Don and Kathy. Survivors include his wife Cora of Winona,Gregory and wife of Birch Tree,MO.,Donald and wife of Raysville,KY., and Kathy Holloway of Flemingsburg,KY. He left 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 5 sisters: Lillie Hall of Imperial,MO., Ruth Randolph of Eddyville, IL., Betty Brown of Winona, MO., Joann Wilkins of Madison, IL., and Trudy Webb of Eminence. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Harvey Voyles. Burial in Oak Grove Cememtary in Birch Tree,MO.

I recently learned that my birth name was Voyles and I was born in Shannon Co. MO on 3/3/1965. I was adopted in 1968 by a husband and wife living in Salem at the time. Apparently the attorney who handled the adoption agreed to be my God Father but I don't know his name. It is possible that Buddy Voyles was related to me in some way. I have also heard that there are members of my family (siblings) that have sought for me over the years.

Shirley, you were probably one of the children of Tommy and Shirley Voyles that were adopted out. You have a lot of family in and around Winona. You should start by getting numbers and calling. I don't want to name any names here for privacy reasons. Are you in Salem now? It wouldn't be that difficult to drive down to Winona if you are.

I'm not in Salem, I moved to Memphis almost 20 years ago. My adopted family still lives around that area though and I visit pretty regularly. Not hard to take a couple of days off and drive up there.

This is so terribly exciting!! What a Birthday present! LOL (3/3/65) After so very very long, a hint at what sounds like a large family!
