Old house on Black Point Rd in Niantic CT owned by Jutila in the 50's at least

Back in the 1950's and 60's too I think there was a house on Blackpoint Rd in Niantic Ct, that belonged to my grandmother sister and her family. The surname was Jutila
and as I never met her husband, I think his name was Onnie?
There was a son living with her. My grandmother, sister and I visited there a few time. I remeber it was on the side of the street, where the trains to NY passed by. an there was a curve in the road, and a bridge to pass under not far from her house. It was an older house, with a front porch. For some reason I want to say it was at either 32 or 62 Black Point Rd,(but I'm really not sure).

Later, I think they sold it, and built a ranch style home on the adjoining lot. That house had an in-law apt on the right as you faced the hous. There was no garage at the time. Today it may be owned by my grandmother 's sister's grandaughter(Connie) and her family, but again I'm not sure.
Fred Jutila had married Irene ? . They are both deceased now.

I'm telling you all this, because what I'm hoping is someone that lives in the Niantic area, and has old directories, or access to them could find out the address(it could be 64 Black Point Rd as well) and maybe just maybe someday when your out and about take a few pictures of both of those homes(if indeed they are still there)
I don't want anyone to go out of their way to do this, but, if your going to the beach someday, you may pass that way.
I remember it was only a few min walk to the beach. Sometimes back then we crossed the train tracks, but I don't think you can do that anylongeer.

Sorry to ramble on like this, and don't worry about it if you can';t do it, its just that I thought it would be a nice added touch for my Finnish gemealogy.

My grandmothers name was Sylvia Maria Piispanen Nelson.
Until she came to live with us she had spent her entire life after immigrating from Finland in West Quincy Ma.
She came to US with her sister Impi(who owned that house i was talking about)

Thanks again
Barbara

I live very close to Blackpoint Rd in niantic. I don't have access to any older directories, though. I can take pictures if you can narrow down the address. Try google earth and plug in the addresses to see if it sparks any memories. Or try to contact the east lyme CT library or east lyme town hall for assistance on the address.

Try that link - put in street name and the next screen will show you a listing of the houses on that street or similar name.

Good luck

Ask him if he remembers Impi Jutila, or Connei her father was Fred Jutial. They lived and Connie may still live, on Black Point Rd.

If we are talking about the same Mr Edward Jutila, his father was the son of Impi(Piispanen)and Onnie Jutila. and they lived in Niantic CT, on Black Point Rd. Ed had a few brothers and maybe an older sister that had moved to Oregon named Ellen or Ella. Impi and Onnie were both born in Finland. Impi was my grandmothers Sylvia Piiapanen Nelson yougest sister.

Please let me know, I wonder if Ed is still a state rep in CT.

Just wondering if anyone has, access to an old phone directory for Niantic CT for around 1955 or so (1930-1970 also) If so could you look up and e-mail me listings for
all the Jutila's in that area. One or two may be on Black point Red in Niantic. Possibly under the names of either Onnie or Impi and or Fred Jutila.

Thank you. I'm hoping with this information that someone living in area, may be able to take a few photo's and send them to me by snail mail. I'll give address thru e-mail whne and if I get the addresse's.

Thank you
Barb

I am wondering if anyone can look up an address for me
Its in Niantic Ct walking distance to a beach.
Backs up to the trains to NY
Today it may be owned by a Connie Jutila and her husband (unfortunately I can't recall his name). Connie grew up in the house.
Her grandmother Impi Jutila and grandfather Onnie had owned a big old house next door.
It was located at 32 or 37 I think or 62 - 67 blackpoint Red
I would like to obtain photo's of both houses.
Impi moved in with Connie and her parents in the ranch house that her son built next door to her old house. and sold the big one I believe.back in the 1950' or 60's.

Anyone familar with Niantic (Black point Rd) can you help.
I think that one of Impi and Onni;'s sons, or grandson's was a state sentor etc in East Lyme Ct(maybe still is)
They had another son Connie's father Fred who had been married twice I think. His first wife was Connie's mother.
believe her surname was stevens (not sure of spelling)

Sorry to ramble with so little inf, but I'm trying to find Connie and since I don't know her actually address posted this.

I know there are several Jutila families in the area or elsewhere in CT.
