An ancestor was corresponding from this town in NWT in the 1880s. It appears not to be there any more......did the borders get redrawn so it ended up in one of the neighboring provinces/territories?

very possible it is the current Fort Macleod,
built in 1874 in south west Alberta as North West Mounted Police base

known simply as MacLeod until 1912


The District of Alberta was created as part of the North-West Territories in 1882
