Please let me know if any of your ancestors are recorded on the War Memorial on Grange Hill, West Kirby. I am researching the biographies of all 334 men and women who died during the Great War of 1914-1918. I have lots of information to share with you and would also like to receive any more which you might have.

Hello Stephen,
We were brought up in West Kirby, and spent many hours roaming Grange and Caldy Hills. My father's brother is included on the WWII memorial - CPO COLIN JOHN HOLDEN.
I have some information about him, including his military record. i am happy to send you any info you need. Let me know what you want. I am living in Sydney, Australia.
My email address is ajholden@bigpond.net.au
I would like to hear more about your project.
Regards, Tony Holden

My uncles Reginald and Sydney HEAL (the latter my namesake)are on the list of the fallen on this memorial. I have details of their final end, Reg at the Somme (1916) and Syd at Monastir Doiren (1918) on the Salonika front, both at age 22.

I can also tell you something of the passing of Rosemary Dawson in the WWII list

All are in my new book "The House that Percy Built" to be release in the U.K. through Countyvise, Birkenhead in 2012.
It will also be published in Canada by Cordillera Books, Vancouver

Hi. I was interested to see that you mentioned Rosemary Dawson's inscription on the War memorial. I knew her parents well, as they lived with my Grandmother. I always wondered how she died in WW2 and I was given an answer I wasn't sure was accurate, so maybe you can help on this? As a child I loved walking on Grange Hill, but found the Memorial rather spooky, I think it was the statues. I would love a reply if you have time. Deborah Elliott
