I am a newby. My grandfather on my father's side was Leon Geddis Byerley. His father was James M. Byerley, born around 1844. Leon had 5 brothers: Charlie, Ross, Harry, Fred and Dana. They are found on census in Nebraska and Iowa. I would like to know more about this family. My grandfather was an entrepreneur and may have had three different families. My father was an only child, born late in his grandfather's life. His half sister born about 1900 was Gedys Perry. He may have abandoned this family. He was married to a Bertha in 1900 and to a Mabel in 1920. My father was born in December 1928. His mother was Ruth Elizabeth DeGarris. I am looking for connections or other people who have information on this family.

I'm pretty sure the James M Byerley you're referring to is my great, great grandfather, James Milroy Byerley. If you're interested, I can send you pedigree or you can look at my GED file here at rootsweb: fast in OK.

James was married to Georgia Anna Geddes and they had 6 sons: Charley, James Jr, Ross Eddy, Leo, Fred and Harry. Georgia died then and James married a woman we know only as "Mary." That marriage ended and he married Nina Mae Laird and they had two daughters, Georgia Ann and Margaret Elizabeth.

My grandfather wrote a bit about this family, which I can send you if you contact me off site.
