Hello,
I have just read your
Hourie genealogy posting of March 2002 stating that Emily
Maude Hourie was the maternal grandmother of your husband. My husbands maternal grandmother was Nora Ellen
Hourie, who was an older sister of Emily
Maude Hourie! I have their parents down as James Edwin "Jim"
Hourie and
Harriet Anderson Hourie.
I have done extensive genealogy for years but so far do not have much on
Harriet and Jim
Hourie and their family, other than several names of some of their daughters and sons and info on some of them that I have recently uncovered. My husbands elderly aunt remembers some of her mother's (Nora) sisters as did my own mother-in-law. I have several of the sisters "married" names that I would love to sort out and compare with your information should you decide to write back. I know that
Harriet, mother of both Emily and Nora, married a second time to a John
Pocha and had several more children.
I am interested in finding more on James Edwin
Hourie and his wife
Harriet Anderson Hourie and all of their children, including both Nora and Emily. My husbands grandmother Nora Ellen
Hourie Anderson, died at the young age of about 39 so family information has been difficult to collect. I would be most interested in sharing any information that I have with you and hopefully vice versa.
Coincidently, my husbands great great grandparents were Sarah
Whitford and Peter
Hourie. I am also researching the
Whitford name and have that Edward "
Toby"
Whitford was the husband of Emily
Maude. (?)
It certainly appears that our husbands are related through both lines,
Whitford and
Hourie.
If you are interested, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you.
Raleigh
