I am looking for information on Frank (Francis) Goff. He was from Rhode Island and married a native woman Minnie North Star, in Calif. They had 7 children, it would of been in the middle (1800's)?

His full name was Frank Stahl Goff b.1833 RI and his parents were William Goff and Sarah R. Stahl. I have more information but would like to hear from you by email so I can forward messages I have saved.

My mother was the daughter of Hattie C. Goff, Frank North Star's youngest daughter. I am curious about the name "Minnie North Star" -- I didn't know she had a first name -- where did you find that or hear it?

Well, this is truly wonderful! Our list of Frank Goff descendants is growing. I am in touch with two cousins who are also descended from Katherine Goff Ollrich. I'm taking a wild card here - but I am trying to find info on my grandmother's family. My grandmother was Sarah Belle Goff (married name/Young). Her mother was of Indian descent and was married to a Frank Goff. Relations tell me grandma was born on the Cherokee Strip (trail of tears). Was hoping maybe North Star was a start. My sister and I have been on Ancestory.com trying to piece together our Native American grandmother’s (Mary Agnes “Minnie” Goff) heritage.

We have traced her to being the youngest daughter of Frank Goff and Minnie North Star. We have census records that confirm her as the youngest child of approx 7 or 8 children after the death of Minnie and Frank Goff (census link below). Seems after the death of Frank & North Star, Edwin and Elizabeth, who were married, took over as head of the Goff household.

A couple years after the death of North Star (1897) our grandmother Minnie at age 10+, was given to a nearby family. We*think* the name is McDonald, but have no confirmation or records backing that family name.

We also read from RootsWeb that Harriet Sturk (link below) has access to Native American enrollment from Edwin Goff confirming Minnie North Star’s Miwok Indian heritage. We were elated to read this as it tells us there are records available to confirm our Miwok heritage.

We’re wondering if you have any information to share to help us ID the family our grandmother was given to and any other info that would help us tie-off on our grandmother’s Miwok heritage (i.e. copy of Tribal enrollment records, marriage/birth/death certificates, etc.).

For my sister and I, this has been a very emotional journey. We’re very grateful for any info you can provide us.
