I am a direct descendant of David Jones born c.1752 in District 96 South Carolina. He married Tacy (Eutascia) Floyd born c. 1758 in District 96 South Carolina. It is stated in "Migrations to Spartanburg County, South Carolina" by Frank Scott that several Quaker families migrated from Pennsylvania in the mid 1700's to South Carolina. Jones and Floyd families were mentioned. David and Tacy married 1776 in Union County, South Carolina.

If you have any information on their parents it would be appreciated.

Best regards,

For

Allan R. Jones:

I find your e.mail interesting.

My Quaker ancestors William & Martha Cox Ferrall married in Delaware in 1744 and went to South Carolina, Fredericksburg, by the mid to late 1750's. From there they went to Campbell Co., Virginia, Lynchburg and affiliated with the South River Monthly Meeting. Here they met the Quaker Fisher family who had come from Bucks Co., Pa, after living briefly in Old Frederick Co., Va and Loudoun Co., Va., Fairfax Meeting.

I am related to a Jones family of Chester Co. Hannah Jones dau of Evan Jones (Bradford) married James Starr 1746. Their daughter Rachel married Thomas Woodward (out of unity) in 1779. I am a descendant through their son Eli Woodward who married Catherine Wolf. From Chester Co., Pa, to Rockingham Co., Va., Ky to Preble Co., Ohio was the route Thomas & Rachel Starr Woodward would take in their life journey.

It appears there was early migration from the north to South Carolina by some Quakers.

There is so much written on Quaker history in Chester county. You can get monthly reports on just about every "Friends" meeting by location. Start with just googling Quaker history....some of the sources then allow you to search surnames. That's how I located quite a few of my Chester county ancestors and their history.
