I am looking for anyone who can help me trace my Dossenbach roots, please. This is all I think I know. Matthias Dossenbach immigrated from Baden (Germany) about 1851. He moved back and forth between Canada and New York with his wife Regula. His children were Frita, Otto, Balivina, Hermina, Adolf, Albert, Herman (my great grandfather) and Taeodor. Hermann and Theodore eventually moved to Rochester and were instumental in beginning the Rochester Orchestra. Herman married Daisy Chapman and they had 3 daughters, Elsa, Hazel,and Alma (my grandmother who died as a result of an accident when my mother was about 3). Gail! greetings! we are second cousins--Hazel Dossenbach was my grandmother. altho i'm afraid it appears you know more about the Dossenbach's than i do, i can surely share some stories. my grandmother married one Paul James Smith (a math professor at University of Rochester) who had an only son, Paul James Smith, Jr, my dad. I am most interested in learning about our great-grandmother Daisy Chapman, but have no further info on her.
