I am researching the Kirwan family, both in Ireland, the west Indies, mostly in St. Croix, Antigua and Montserrat as far as I know, and also the Kirwan's in France. If any one has information I would apprediate it very much. My records start in the 14th hundreds

Hi Joy
Do you have a bit more information about this Sydney Kirwan, when was he alive, do you know who his parents were etc, I do not recollect coming across his name, but I hope to go through the census and other records in the Public Records Office in London when I go over to England in February and if I come across anything on him I will let you know

Can you tell me if you found any sources in Antigua - where and what? I can't seem to raise anyone there to answer questions about 1700-1850's?

Dear Dee
I have not had too much luck myself with answers from the West Indies, even though I have written to Libraries etc. I did find a lot of information in
1. Analecta Hibernica no 4 (Irish Mss Commisssion 1932 Dublin) 'Documents relating to the Irish in the West Indies'
2. Caribbeana 6volumes (London 1909-1919) edited by Vere Langford Oliver
3. Kistory of the island of Antigua, 3 volumes (London 1894-99) pedigrees of many Irish families in the West Indies) edited by Vere Langford Oliver
4. Sugar and slavery an economic history of the British West Indies 1623-1775 Baltimore-The Johns Hopkins University Press 1973 Richard B. Sheridan.
Hope this helps
